Notice of Nomination for Office

This notice is for anyone proposing to be a Candidate in the 2026 municipal and school board elections on October 26, 2026.

Nominations for the positions listed below must be filed on the prescribed form available either in person or by your agent, with the Returning Officer or designate during normal office hours commencing May 1 to August 20, 2026, and between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on August 21, 2026 (Nomination Day).

Please make an appointment with Election Services to file your nomination. Appointments can be arranged by emailing elections@eastgwillimbury.ca or contacting Election Services at 905-478-4282.

Each proposed candidate must file the prescribed declaration form signed by at least 25 persons (School Board candidates are exempt). The required filing fee for the Head of Council is $200, and all other offices are $100 (cash, debit, or certified cheque made payable to the Municipality of East Gwillimbury).

Candidates must not spend or raise any funds for their election campaign until the registration/nomination form has been filed. Full details on the procedures to be followed may be obtained from Election Services. Visit the Town’s Municipal Elections election page at http://www.electionseg.ca

In the event there are an insufficient number of certified candidates to fill all positions available, nominations will be reopened for the vacant positions only on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. and such additional nominations, if required, may be filed in the office of the Clerk.
